Marriage Counseling In Orange County: On Achieving Self-Actualization

What is a perfect marriage?

This is a question that many have pondered on time and again, and while there are countless different answers, they all seem to possess one common trait – happiness. As many counsellors and life coaches have pointed out, a perfect marriage doesn’t necessarily mean an absence of sadness, but rather the ability to give happiness at any given moment.

Experts have also pointed out that while marriage is all about communication, it should also allow each party to find personal growth and self-fulfillment. It is important to remember that there are two people in a relationship, and that they both need to find success and happiness as individuals as well.

Maslow coined this personal growth as self-actualization, something which may be achieved only by understanding yourself first, and your relationship with other people. In his theory on the Hierarchy of Needs, Maslow expressed the belief that a person can only recognize and achieve his true potential after love and self-esteem have been achieved. Perhaps, then, a successful marriage can happen only if both parties are living a meaningful and purposeful life. This is one of the key ideas that may be explored through marriage counseling in Orange County from esteemed life coaches like Judi Wolder.

A life coach from Orange County like Judi Wolder seeks to help patients learn more about themselves, and come up with self-discoveries that they might have never expected. There are many cases in which a person may be successful in life, but still feels that something is missing. This “something” could be the self-actualization which Maslow had theorized to be the ultimate need of all human beings.

Sounds complicated?  Perhaps, but this is where life coaches from places like Cedar Light Life Coaching come in. Life coaches are different from therapists, because they focus more on unlocking the true potential of a person, and helping them find happiness for themselves.

Making a marriage work is not always easy, and the high divorce rate in the country is a testament to that. Perhaps the key is both spouses finding individual happiness and fulfillment, which could then empower them  to become each other’s support. If you’re looking for answers that could strengthen your marriage, seek a life coach, and learn more about starting on that road to self-actualization.
